Design & Corporate Social Responsibility

Posted by & filed under NEWS.

Design and corporate social responsibility are two elements that can and should go hand in hand, complementing each other to broaden the message and communication channels.

BassAwards is really committed to social development and environmental protection. No one can stay out of this change in their environment and it is necessary for all of us to get involved in CSR related tasks. That is why BassAwards rewards the work of NGOs, foundations and companies that use motiongraphics in their campaigns, as well as freelancers or agencies that serve as the basis for making these. They become visible by being promoted for free through our Best Social Award, not only as entities, but also by spreading their message.

We do not want anyone to feel lost among the concepts, but we would like all the people who follow us to assimilate and internalize this concept and the  close relationship between design and responsible behaviour. For this reason, we have an exceptional jury that is particularly sensitive in this respect. This jury will bring what our concept of what the Best social award is to you. In this occasion we have the wonderful collaboration of Leon Kaye, Founder and editor of GreenGoPost.com and Francesc Aragall President of Designforall Foundation.

The world in which we live changes, but if we think about why social work should be developed in the future, both Leon and Françesc have a clear idea. For the former, “It is important to implement social action because your stakeholders are demanding it. The World has become smaller thanks to new technologies, especially social media. Consumers are more aware about the social and environmental impact of their products and  are demanding that companies change their business practices” Whereas Aragall notes that:” The future will be with the people or it simply will not be! The more your company works with people, the better success in future it will have  These people will be empowered to be innovation leaders “.

After being asked ‘What would you say to the visual design firms so that they get involved in CSR? Both professionals agree in one thing: there are gradually more and more consumers that require this type of action. “Corporate Social Responsibility is still perceived as the new charity by many companies but in the future only responsible companies will have the opportunity to make business as the consumers are already demanding more transparent and engaged companies in our wellbeing”, says Françesc Aragall, whereas Leon Kaye comments “knowing the issues and understanding what stakeholders want -it’s a tough audience out there and every client has very different needs”, he insists “Great design is the key to storytelling, which is an important part of explaining CSR goals to stakeholders and customers”.

If our jury had to explain the importance of the use of audiovisual design in transmitting awareness messages to a non-profit entity/ NGO,  the clear answer would be: “You’ve got to tell a story effectively in an age where people have short attention spans and are constantly distracted. People don’t have time to read 1000 words. But they will watch a short or series of images that articulate those 1000 words.”- Leon Kaye.

According to Françesc’s experience, ‘’a good message reaches the right audience. The time when NGOs were allowed to deliver unprofessional messages is over”.

We hope the message gets through. It is necessary for us to get involved in environmental matters. Don’t forget that the BassAwards awards Best social tasks. Register your pieces for free before October 30.
